Candidate terms
The terms on which Unistra Ltd helps you find permanent or fixed-term work. The law requires us to agree these with you before we put you forward for anything. Registering is free, and it will never be anything else.
Version 1.0, September 2026. Unistra Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 16970559. Registered office: 1 Mosedale Avenue, Lightwood, Stoke-on-Trent ST3 7UD.
01 About these terms
1.1 These terms apply between Unistra Ltd (Unistra, we, us) and you, as someone looking for work. They start when you accept them, by ticking the box on our registration form, replying to our email or signing a paper copy, and continue until either of us ends them. We keep a record of your acceptance and send you a copy.
1.2 We are an employment agency under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and follow the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003. We introduce people to employers for permanent and fixed-term jobs. We do not employ you and we do not supply temporary work. If you are offered a job, your contract of employment will be with the employer.
02 No fees
2.1 We will never charge you a fee for finding, or trying to find, you work. We are paid by the employer who hires you.
2.2 We are not authorised to receive any money on your behalf, and we will never ask you to pay for registering, training, checks or anything else.
03 What we will do
3.1 We will look for permanent and fixed-term jobs that match what you have told us you want, and introduce you to employers with suitable vacancies.
3.2 Before we put you forward, we will tell you about the role: the employer, what they do, the job title and type of work, the location, the hours, the start date, the pay and benefits, how often pay is made, the notice periods, any qualifications required, and any health and safety risks the employer has told us about. If we tell you this by phone, we will confirm it in writing within three working days.
3.3 We act on your behalf only as far as you authorise us. We will only send your CV or details to an employer once you have agreed to be put forward for that specific role. We are not authorised to accept a job offer on your behalf.
3.4 We will tell you the outcome of each application, and pass on the employer’s feedback where they give it.
3.5 We cannot guarantee that we will find you work.
04 What we ask of you
4.1 The information you give us, including in your CV, must be true and complete. Tell us if anything changes, for example your contact details, availability or qualifications.
4.2 To confirm your identity and that you can do the job, we will ask to see an identity document, evidence of any qualifications or licences the role requires, and details of referees. If a role involves working with children or vulnerable adults, we must obtain two references before putting you forward.
4.3 Your new employer is legally responsible for checking your right to work in the UK, and will need to see your documents themselves. We will tell you what to bring.
4.4 Tell us if an employer we introduced you to contacts you directly, or if you accept an offer from them.
4.5 Tell us if you are unable to attend an interview or change your mind about a role.
05 Your personal data
5.1 We use your personal data to find you work and to represent you accurately to employers. Our lawful basis and your rights are explained in our privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.
5.2 We share your details only with an employer you have agreed to be put forward to, and with service providers who store data for us on our instructions. We never sell personal data.
5.3 We keep your records for two years from our last meaningful contact with you, then delete them. If you are placed in a job, we keep the placement records for six years from the end of the relevant tax year, as the law requires.
5.4 You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to info@unistra.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We are registered under reference ZC163389.
06 Ending these terms
6.1 You can ask us to stop looking for work for you at any time, by phone, email or in writing, and we will stop immediately. We can also end these terms by telling you. Neither of us needs to give a notice period.
6.2 If we change these terms, we will only do so with your agreement, and we will send you a copy of the new terms within five working days.
07 Complaints and law
7.1 If you are unhappy with our service, contact us at info@unistra.co.uk and we will respond within ten working days. You can also contact the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate, which enforces the rules for employment agencies.
7.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
