What we collect
From work-seekers: name, contact details, employment history, qualifications and registrations, references, and confirmation of your eligibility to work in the UK. Where a role is in regulated activity we may also record that a criminal records check has been obtained by the employer. From clients: name, job title, contact details, and the details of roles you ask us to fill.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use work-seeker data to find you suitable permanent work and to represent you accurately to a prospective employer. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests, being the operation of an employment agency, and, where we act on your instruction for a specific role, steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract. Any criminal records information is processed under the substantial public interest condition for safeguarding and the prevention or detection of unlawful acts. We use client data on the basis of legitimate interests and contract.
Who we share it with
We share your details with a prospective employer only for a specific role and only once you have agreed to that role. We also use service providers for email and file storage, who process data on our instructions. We do not sell personal data to anyone.
How long we keep it
Work-seeker records are kept for two years from our last meaningful contact with you, after which they are deleted, unless we are required to keep them longer. Records relating to a completed placement are kept for six years from the end of the relevant tax year, to meet contractual and tax obligations.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Write to info@unistra.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
